Seashore

Seashore is an open source image editor for Cocoa. It features gradients, textures and anti-aliasing for both text and brush strokes. It supports multiple layers and alpha channel editing. It is based around the GIMP's technology and uses the same native file format.

Inkscape .44.1

Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Supported SVG features include shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, patterns, and grouping. Inkscape also supports Creative Commons meta-data, node editing, layers, complex path operations, bitmap tracing, text-on-path, flowed text, direct XML editing, and more. It imports formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and others and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats.

Scribus

Scribus/Aqua is a port of Scribus to a native Aqua build using Qt Free for MacOSX.

The latest snapshot is based on 1.3.3.2. Latest Ghostscript is based on AFPL GS 8.54.

BlenderBlender 2.42a is the latest release from the Blender Foundation.

It is a minor upgrade that address problems with the gameplayer on all platforms, a python issue under linux and a couple of other small bug fixes.

Art of Illusion

Art of Illusion is a free, open source 3D modelling and rendering studio. It is written entirely in Java, and should be usable on any Java Virtual Machine which is compatible with J2SE 1.4 or later.

It is both stable and powerful enough to be used for serious, high-end animation work. Many of its capabilities rival those found in commercial programs. Some of the highlights include subdivision surface based modelling tools, skeleton based animation, and a graphical language for designing procedural textures and materials.

Wings 3D

Wings 3D is a polygon mesh modeler inspired by Nendo and Mirai from Izware. It is possible to assign materials, vertex color, UV coordinates and textures, but there will be improvements in those features before Wings goes 1.0.

Quesa

Quesa is a high-level, Open Source, 3D graphics library that offers binary and source level compatibility with Apple's QuickDraw™ 3D API. Quesa does not contain any Apple source code, and was developed without access to Apple's QD3D implementation.

Quesa supports both retained and immediate mode rendering, an extensible file format, plug-in renderers, a wide range of high level geometries, hierarchical models, and a consistent and object-orientated API.

Quesa acts as a scene-graph while using OpenGL for rendering. In principle it could be adapted to use a different low-level rendering engine such as Direct 3D.
